“FD 3546 to Bangkok is ready for boarding. Passengers please proceed to boarding gate nine. Thank you.” It announced twice to inform the passengers.
It was 12th of December.
I was in the Penang International Airport. I was going to Bangkok, the Capital City of Thailand for year-end vacation with my family. Honestly, I was extremely exciting as that was my first time to Thailand. I could not fall asleep one night before that day. I was really curious about Bangkok. I packed my luggage one week before I was leaving. I was so worried about I would leave out anything important.
We left Penang at ten o’clock sharp. I loved to board on a plane. That made me feel like I was beyond the world; I was the queen. The excitement didn’t last long. From Penang to Bangkok, it needs only about two hours. We arrived at Bangkok International Airport. It is very big, crowded by visitors, the Thais, the workers and others
Our relatives came to pick us up. They are my uncle and aunt. We lived at their house to save budgets. They are friendly and accommodating. We had not taken our lunch yet, so they took us to a famous local chicken rice shop to have our sumptuous lunch. Yummy! The food there was pretty good.
After that, we didn’t visit anywhere. We just talked and had fun with the other relatives. We played monopoly, poker game, Uno game and many more. My brother and I thought that we had not been so relax since the last year-end vacation. We enjoyed ourselves very much with our cousins though we had long time no see.
After dinner, my brother, the other children and I sat in front of my father’s uncle, a genial old man to listen to his story when he was young. The story is interesting. He told us how he got into a relationship with his long dead wife. He also sang Chinese old folk songs for us.
The first day in Bangkok ended with joy and happiness.
The next day, we went to the most famous market in Bangkok. You must be wondering what the market so special is of. It’s a floating market! It is on the river. The sellers sell their goods in the boats; the visitors have to rent boats to shop around the floating market. Isn’t it special?
We woke up quite early, because this buzzing market is at its best in the early morning before the crowds arrive and the heat of the day builds up. The boat which we were on went around and around. We could see local delicious food, crafts, and clothes.
I ate some local Thai food there. I ate Pat Thai, a Thai style Fried Noodles. I also tried the coconut pancake and the last, I ate local chow mien, which means fried noodles. I saw a lot of miscellaneous items. I did not forget to buy some mementos for my friends and myself.
Thailand is the city of Buddha. We visited quite a number of temples. I didn't know that visitors are not allowed to wear shorts, but long pants and skirts. So, I rented a blue long cloth which is made off silk to envelope my lower part of body.
The temples are quite. No one dare to talk loudly, scream in the temple. Everyone respect the God, and pray sincerely for what they wish.
At night, we experienced the Menam Chao Phraya in the Grand Pearl Cruise. Menam means river in Thai. We checked in at River City Pier. We enjoyed a superb buffet dinner on the cruise. We passed by some Thailand’s historical landmarks, such as Temple of the Emerald Buddha. We relaxed under the moonlight. There was a band playing jazz music.
“Tiger, I love tiger!” I said excitingly.
“Yes, we are now going to Sriracha Tiger Zoo. It is the most famous and biggest tiger zoo in Bangkok. Happy?” my aunty who works as a tour guide said.
Of course, I was happy, absolutely! I took photographs with cub and adult tiger. My mum was so worried that the adult tiger would scratch my face and hurt me. I know they would not. I love them so much, they would not hurt me!
After that, we actually went to feed crocodiles. I thought it was dangerous, but my brother insisted he wanted to feed them. I was so worried, that I just stood far away. Maybe, my brother thinks crocodiles were cute, just like I think tigers were cute.
Next, we rode on an elephant. That sounds exciting, but in fact it is not. I think it was boring. Since my brother wanted it so much, it's okay to me.
Before leaving the Bangkok International Airport, we bought ten boxes of Thai mango sticky sweet rice. It is an absolute must try! This exotic Thai dessert starts with Thai sweet rice, which is surrounded by a "bath" of coconut milk, then topped with slices of fresh mango. If you like mangos, you are going to love this very simple but tropical dessert.
Whatever vacation, it will come to the end. My exciting, loving and interesting vacation was ended. Although I was reluctant to leave, I had to. Before boarding the plane, I turned my head and said, “Goodbye, Bangkok. I will be back.”
